Why Profiles?

We have recently added profiles to LDSTeenHelp.com. This was a decision in which we included users of the site. The majority wanted profiles and we made it optional for those that didn't. This is not a social networking site like myspace or facebook. The profiles can only be seen by other members and they have as much or as little information as the user would like. Right now, they only show up with someone has written in with a question/problem. The purpose is to help mentors stay in contact with those that ask questions or are having problems and this is the first stage. The next stage will include a mail system which will allow individual users to communicate with each other on the site without ever revealing their email address. I know. It's looking more and more like facebook all the time. But we are still maintaining the theme of peer help. Any change or addition will enhance the user's ability to mentor and get help.
